Mobile Bingo

Bingo has become a popular game worldwide, especially in the United States. This ‘Game of Chance’ has a large crowd of players all around the globe.

Now as the game has become so popular in the real world as well as online, game players and companies have started wondering if this popular game can be brought to the Mobile platform. This has been a hot topic of discussion for a while now, “Would we ever play Bingo on mobile phones?” .Even the game companies have realized that bringing Bingo for real money on mobile would increase its market considerably, and thus making the jackpots bigger and better for everyone.

There are many advantages and disadvantages of bringing the game to the mobile platform. The major advantage is portability. Since a mobile can be taken anywhere, it would be possible to play anywhere around the globe. You can play it at your house, or in the bus, or even in a movie hall! The reach of the game would be increased to a great extent. Anyone with a cell phone (and a working data connection) will be able to experience the pleasure of playing the game.

Having Mobile Bingo loaded in the phone would also mean that you can play it with your friends. Being with friends at a restaurant, and waiting long for food wouldn’t be boring anymore. Just bring out your phones and get going. Who knows u might win a jackpot and, voila, you don’t have to pay from your pocket for the food you ate!

All this sounds very promising, isn’t it? But there are a few problems with this concept, and the biggest one being the data connectivity problems. Even today, when the technology is so advanced, people crave for a proper network. And I’m talking about metro cities, leave alone the smaller ones! And how can anyone fail to notice that we are talking about a device with poor processing capabilities? Mobiles aren’t made for gaming, are they? Mobile developers will have to create powerful devices, which is very unlikely to happen (just for a single game!).

Bingo requires concentration, right? Can you always get it while playing on mobile? No! You are bound to get distracted! Now it can either be a call from your boss or a text from a friend, or an important e-mail from your office. And all these distractions are likely to leave you wondering about other things, but definitely not about the game.

In 1530, Italy was unified. Around that time, a lottery was launched. Since the time this lottery was started, almost every Saturday, a weekly lottery was organized. By the year 1778, people in France got to know about this game and it captured the attention of clerisy. Thus after this time onwards, a popular version of this lottery game came into existence. The division of cards was done into nine vertical columns and three horizontal rows. In the 1800s, this game became very popular throughout the Europe. Many different techniques to learn multiplication, and even spelling were designed by this.

The game came into existence in the form of a lottery, became very popular in a carnival as a tent game in Germany. It reached to America through a carnival pitchman who was on a Germany tour. After making some variations and changes to the game, he brought forward this game with the name Beano.

Once a travelling toy salesperson named Edwin s. Lowe stopped at the carnival. The time he came, only the Beano tent was open. He was amazed to see the crowd at that tent and their excitement for the beano game. He realized that this beano game was a superb idea for money making. After returning to his home, Lowe created a game influenced from the beano game using cardboard, a rubber number stamp and some beans. He called all his friends and invited tem to play this game he had created. There was no denying the fact that his friends were as excited while playing the game as he saw the people at the carnival were. They found the game were enjoyable and interesting. During the course of the game, somebody yelled out “bingo” in excitement and then the game got its name.

One of the priests from Wilkes-Barne, Pennsylvania was a key promoter of bingo game being played in churches. During the game in churches, someone was hit with the idea of making use of this game for fund raising. Since there were only 24 unique cards for the game, there were many winners. So the priests talked about it to Lowe and he recognizing the fund raising idea of bingo helped the priests. He suggested help of a mathematics professor at Columbia University. Thus with the increase in the number of bingo cards, the purpose to reduce number of winners of the game was expectedly served. And in this way Bingo game gained popularity as a game as well as fund raising means.
